چکیده
Campylobacteriosis in an infectious disease of animals that is transmissable to man. The aetiological agents are members of the genus Campylobacter, a name compounded from the Greek campylo (,curved') and bacter ('rod'). I Members of this genus are small gram-negative, microaerophilic, curved-to-spiral rods that have a single polar flagellum. Representatives include pathogens for animals and man, as well as saprophytes and can be found in the intestinal tract and oral cavity. 2

Health problems following Campylobacter jejuni enteritis in a Lancashire population.
OBJECTIVES Campylobacter jejuni enteritis can lead to musculoskeletal, neuropathic or other health sequelae. We investigated the coexistence, seasonal occurrence, strain-type associations and impact on work capacity of different health problems following C. jejuni enteritis in a Lancashire population during 1999 and 2001. METHODS A semistructured questionnaire was used to characterize health ...
متن کاملEvaluation of cytotoxic activity in fecal filtrates from patients with Campylobacter jejuni or Campylobacter coli enteritis.
We sought to determine the prevalence of cytotoxic activity in fecal filtrates from persons with C. jejuni or C. coli enteritis. Stool specimens were collected from 20 persons with C. jejuni or C. coli enteritis, 20 persons with acute diarrheal illnesses of other causes, and 9 healthy, asymptomatic persons. Fecal filtrates were then incubated with Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) or HeLa cells. The ...
متن کاملThe Role of Campylobacter Jejuni in Campylobacteriosis
Campylobacter jejuni is a Gram negative, curved, motile, thermophilic and microaerophilic bacillus in Campylobacteriaceae family, which is one of the main causes of enteritis in human named campylobacteriosis. The main reservoir of Campylobacter jejuni is the alimentary tract of animals, especially chicken and turkey. Consumption of semi-cooked chicken meat, raw milk and unchlorinated water are...
متن کاملCampylobacter jejuni enteritis and reactive arthritis.
A further case of reactive arthritis following Campylobacter jejuni enteritis is reported. The interim results of a small prospective study are discussed. It may be desirable to do serological studies for campylobacter infection in the investigation of mono- or polyarthritis of acute onset.
متن کاملDark-field microscopy of human feces for presumptive diagnosis of Campylobacter fetus subsp. jejuni enteritis.
To determine the value of direct dark-field microscopy for diagnosing enteritis due to Campylobacter fetus subsp. jejuni, we examined 1,377 human fecal specimens for bacteria with typical Campylobacter darting motility, leukocytes, and erythrocytes. Eighty-four specimens (6.1%) grew C.fetus subsp. jejuni. Of the 48 specimens showing Campylobacter motility, 30 (62%) grew C. fetus subsp. jejuni. ...
